Start a sales order from the cart

When the cart holds the products, quantities and prices a customer has agreed to buy, hand it to a sales order. You can create a new sales order from it or add its lines to an order that already exists. Either way the cart is emptied and the order opens for you to finish.

  1. Click the cart icon in the top bar (or View Cart on the catalog) to open the Shopping Cart.
  2. Click Add to Sales Order.
  3. Choose Add to New Sales Order. There is no form and no confirmation; the sales order is created at once.

The dialog’s columns are Order Number, Company, Project, Supply Point, Total, Items, Status and Created; click a header to sort. The search and status are cleared each time the dialog opens. If no order qualifies it reads No eligible sales orders found and Only Draft, Sent and Confirmed orders can receive more items. If the list cannot be loaded it reads Couldn’t load sales orders. Click Cancel or the × to close the dialog without adding anything.

  • While the order is being created or updated, the cart page shows a spinner; then the cart is emptied and the sales order opens in edit mode with the cart lines added to its items, each at the quantity and unit price from the cart.
  • If creating the order fails you see Could not create the sales order. Please try again. If adding to an existing order fails, the dialog stays open with a red message (Could not add items to the sales order. Please try again. unless a more specific reason is given) and your selection kept, so you can try again.
  • If the order was created or updated but the cart could not be emptied, you see Sales order created, but the cart could not be cleared. or Items added, but the cart could not be cleared. The order is fine; remove the cart lines by hand.
  • If the order was created or updated but could not be opened, you see Sales order created, but it could not be opened. or Items added, but the sales order could not be opened. Find it in Sales Orders.
