Company fields

Field	Required	Notes
Name	Yes	Must be unique.
Status	Yes	Active or Inactive. Active is selected for a new company.
Types	No	Any combination of Contractor, Hardware Owner and Manufacturer. Each once.
Addresses	No	Up to 3. Each row has a type (Corporate, Billing or Shipping) and an address. Each type can be used once. Shown on the Overview tab under Addresses.

Statuses

Status	How it is reached	What it means
Active	Chosen in Add Company (the default) or Edit Company	Offered when you choose a company in a new person, project, jobsite, supply point, quote or sales order.
Inactive	Chosen in Add Company or Edit Company	Kept and still editable, with its People tab working as usual, but not offered when you choose a company in a new record. Can be set back to Active.

A deleted company has no status. It is gone from the list, the counts and every company picker. Its old page shows Company not found, and people who were linked to it show (Deleted) before the company name.

Validation messages

Message	When
Name is required	Name is empty.
Each type may only be selected once	The same type was chosen twice.
Select a type	An address row has no type.
Address is required	An address row has a type but no address.
Each address type may only be used once	Two address rows use the same type.
A company with this name already exists.	Another company has the same name. Shown under Name.

Other messages

Message	When
New company created	A company was added.
Edits applied	Changes were saved.
Couldn’t create company. Please try again.	Adding failed for another reason.
Couldn’t save company. Please try again.	Saving failed for another reason.
No changes to save — update at least one field.	You saved without changing anything.
Failed to delete company. Please try again.	Deleting failed. Shown inside the confirmation, which stays open.
Discard unsaved changes?	You closed a dialog with unsaved changes. Discard throws them away.
You have unsaved changes. Please save or discard before leaving.	You tried to leave the page while a dialog had unsaved changes.
Loading company…	The Edit Company dialog is fetching the company.
Company not found	The company page was opened for a company that does not exist or was deleted.
Couldn’t load this company	The company page could not load. Try again.
Failed to load company details.	Same as above, shown as a message at the bottom of the screen.
Failed to load company status counts.	The Total, Active and Inactive counts could not load.
Couldn’t load more.	The next page of the list could not load. Click Retry.
No companies found	Nothing matches your search or status filter.
