Glossary

Omni records fall into four families: the places work happens, the products you sell, the commercial documents that move an order along, and the people who use the system.

Company : A customer or owner organization with a status of Active or Inactive. Projects, jobsites, supply points, quotes and sales orders can each point at one company. Found under Projects and Sites > Companies.

Project : A project-management record with a company, a status, an optional project manager and start and end dates. Supply points can be assigned to a project from the project’s Supply Points tab.

Jobsite : A grouping of supply points used by quotes, sales orders and hardware. A jobsite has a name, an optional company and location, and a status. A supply point belongs to at most one jobsite. Jobsites and projects exist side by side: use projects for planning and jobsites when quoting, ordering and placing hardware.

Supply Point : A physical location with an address where products are delivered and hardware is placed. A supply point can be linked to a project and to a jobsite at the same time, and can have one hardware unit assigned to it. Earlier versions of Omni called this a Site.

Hardware : A physical unit, such as a QDU, SBU or Crib, identified by its serial number. A unit is assigned to at most one supply point at a time from the supply point’s Hardware tab. Its Assignments tab shows where it has been.

Product : One item in the product database under Product Data > Products, with a SKU, UPC, status, manufacturer, category, vendor, list price and specifications.

Product Catalog : The read-only view of active products under Commerce where you search, filter and add items to the cart.

Cart : The set of products and quantities you are assembling. From the cart you start a new quote or sales order, or add the items to an existing one.

Price List : A named set of prices for products, with a status of Draft, Active or Archived. A price list can be assigned to companies, and an active price list applies when you quote for or sell to one of those companies. Found under Product Data > Price Lists.

List price, adjusted price and final price : The list price comes from the product. A price list can apply a global adjustment to every product, set a specific final price or margin for individual products, or apply pricing to a selection in bulk.

Catalog Pricing : The choice in the Pricelist field on a quote or sales order that prices every line from the product’s list price instead of a price list.

Quote : An offer to a customer built from cart items. A quote moves through Draft, Sent, Approved or Rejected, Expired and Converted. See Statuses.

Sales Order : The confirmed commitment that drives fulfillment. Created as a Draft from the cart or by converting an approved quote, then sent, confirmed, and finally cancelled or closed.

Customer PO : The customer’s own purchase order or reference number, recorded on quotes, sales orders and invoices.

Order Confirmation : The email Omni sends to the customer when an approved quote is converted to a sales order.

Invoice : A bill for a delivered fulfillment order. Omni creates invoices for you; you send them, download them as PDF, record payments and void them under Commerce > Invoices.

Fulfillment Order : A pick-and-pack work order for one sales order, created when the order is confirmed. Its Pick Tasks tab is where items are picked and packed.

Backorder : A new fulfillment order created automatically for the items that were short when a fulfillment order was packed.

Pick task : One line of a fulfillment order to pick. Each line shows how many of the ordered quantity have been picked.

Packing slip : The PDF list of what was packed for a fulfillment order. Omni downloads it when you confirm pick and pack, and again from Download Packing Slip on the order.

Shipment : One or more packed fulfillment orders travelling together under one carrier, with departed, expected delivery and delivered dates and a shipping charge per fulfillment order.

Carrier : Who moves a shipment: AWM Fulfillment with a named driver, or UPS, FedEx, USPS, DHL Express or Other with tracking numbers.

Related Records : The panel on a sales order or shipment that links the quotes, fulfillment orders, invoices and sends connected to it.

Person : Someone who can sign in to Omni, listed under People. A person belongs to a company and has one or more roles.

Role : A named set of permissions that you assign to people. Managed under People > Roles.

Permission : A single capability in one area, such as sending a quote. See Permissions.

Two-factor authentication : A second step at sign-in using a code from an authenticator app. Set it up under Settings.

Recovery code : A one-time code you can use at sign-in if you cannot reach your authenticator app. Omni gives you a set when you set up two-factor authentication.

Dashboard : The landing page: quick actions, sales activity for the last 7, 14 or 30 days, record counts by status, a Needs Attention list and upcoming shipments.

Status buttons : The row of buttons at the top of a list that filters by status and shows a count for each. Click several to combine them. Total shows everything.

List view and Card view : The two ways to show a list. The toggle sits next to the search box. Narrow screens always use cards.

Details and Items tabs : The tabs on a record’s page. Details shows its fields; Items shows its line items. Fulfillment orders and shipments have extra tabs for pick tasks and related orders.

Help icon : The question-mark icon in the top bar. It opens the Help Center page for the area you are in.
