Projects
A Project is a project-management record: a customer Company, a name, a status, an optional Project Manager, start and end dates and a description. Supply points can be assigned to a project, so you can see which locations belong to it.
Projects live in the sidebar under Projects and Sites, next to Companies, Jobsites, Supply Points and Hardware. You need the Projects: Read permission to see the entry.
How projects, jobsites and supply points fit together
Section titled “How projects, jobsites and supply points fit together”- A Company is a customer organisation. A project, a jobsite and a supply point can each point at one company.
- A Project groups supply points for project management. You assign supply points to a project from the project’s Supply Points tab.
- A Jobsite is a separate grouping record with its own name, company, location and status. You assign supply points to a jobsite from the jobsite’s Supply Points tab. A supply point belongs to at most one jobsite.
- A Supply Point is a physical location with an address, a status and notes. It can be on a project and on a jobsite at the same time, and the two assignments are independent. One Hardware unit can be assigned to each supply point.
- Quotes, Sales Orders and Hardware refer to a jobsite, not to a project.
See the Jobsites overview, the Supply Points overview and the Companies overview for those records.
The Projects list
Section titled “The Projects list”
The list shows every project with its Company, Status, Start Date, End Date and the number of Supply Points assigned to it. Above the list:
- The status pills Total, Planning, Active, Completed and Inactive show a count each. Click a pill to show only that status, click more pills to add statuses, and click Total to clear the filter.
- Search Projects… matches the project name or the company name.
- The view toggle switches between List view and Card view. On narrow windows only the card view is shown.
- Add Project opens the form for a new project. The button appears only if you have the Projects: Create permission.
In list view, click a column heading to sort by Project, Company, Status, Start Date or End Date; click it again to reverse the order. The list opens sorted by name, and Status sorts in the order Planning, Active, Completed, Inactive. Your search, status filter and sort are part of the page address, so you can share the link with a colleague. The Actions column holds an edit icon for each project. Dates show as MM/DD/YYYY, or N/A when not set. A company that is not set shows as a dash. If the supply point counts cannot be loaded, the Supply Points column reads Unavailable. When nothing matches, the list reads No projects found with the hint Try adjusting your search or filter criteria.
The project page
Section titled “The project page”Click a project name to open it. The header shows the name, a status badge, the project ID and an Edit project icon. Two tabs sit below it:
- Overview shows a Details card with Company, Supply Points, Timeline and Project Manager, and a Description card. Empty values show as N/A.
- Supply Points lists the supply points assigned to this project as cards or as a table, with a search box, a view toggle and an Assign Supply Point button.
If the project cannot be loaded, the page reads Couldn’t load this project with the hint Please try again.
Statuses
Section titled “Statuses”A project has one of four statuses, in this order: Planning, Active, Completed and Inactive. You choose the status when you add the project and can change it to any other status at any time. The Total count can be higher than the four pills added together: a project that was created without a status counts toward Total, matches no pill and must be given a status the first time you edit it. See the reference for the full field list.
